Desert Mountain

Desert Mountain is one of the most recognized private golf clubs in North Scottsdale, set across 8,300 acres of Sonoran Desert. Established in 1986, it’s the only private club in the world built around six Jack Nicklaus Signature Championship golf courses, plus a seventh, a par-54 short course for a faster round. If serious golf pedigree and a genuinely large private club are what you’re after, Desert Mountain is hard to match in this market.

Six Courses, One Club

The six championship courses, Apache, Chiricahua, Cochise, Geronimo, Outlaw and Renegade, are all Jack Nicklaus Signature designs, each with its own character and difficulty. The seventh course, known as No. 7, is a shorter par-54 layout built for members who want a quicker, more relaxed round without leaving the club.

The Sonoran Clubhouse and Amenities

Desert Mountain’s campus includes seven distinct clubhouses and ten restaurants and grills, anchored by the 42,000-square-foot Sonoran Clubhouse, which houses full-service fitness, spa and wellness facilities. The racquet complex adds nine tennis courts across multiple surfaces and eight pickleball courts, and members have access to more than 25 miles of private hiking trails and over 40 member-led social clubs.

Understanding Membership

Owning a home in Desert Mountain doesn’t automatically include club membership. Membership is a separate application, and access to golf, dining, fitness and the rest of the club depends on which membership category you hold. This is exactly the kind of detail worth understanding before you make an offer, not after.

Properties range from lock-and-leave villas and condominiums popular with seasonal residents to full custom estates, including homes situated directly on one of the club’s seven courses. The community spans 35 villages and is home to more than 5,000 residents, drawing both golf-focused empty nesters and families, thanks to junior golf and tennis programs and a secure, gated setting.

Local Area

Desert Mountain sits in far north Scottsdale, one of the most private and secluded settings in the market. With ten restaurants inside the club itself, most day to day dining happens on-site, and North Scottsdale’s broader shopping and dining corridors are a short drive south.

Schools and nearby off-site retail intentionally left out, no confirmed source. Needs Julie and Jeff’s input before publishing, this community sits further north than the other five and I’m not willing to guess at school district or copy it over from the nearby pages without confirmation.
